A Little About This Trip
Three days is my sweet spot for Fukuoka! ✨ You get enough time to enjoy the city properly, eat GOOD 😋, and STILL escape to Itoshima for a full coastal day. 🌊 You can start with Fukuoka Castle, explore the interactive art inside teamLab Forest, continue through BOSS E・ZO, and catch the bay views from Fukuoka Tower. Then wander through Hakata’s temples before watching Nakasu light up from the river. Save room for the yatai afterward—these open-air food stalls are such a fun Fukuoka specialty, especially when you want to keep dinner casual and try a few things. 🍜
Itoshima is one of my favorite places in Fukuoka, and giving it an entire day is absolutely worth it. It slows down the city pace with ocean views, quiet shrines, strawberry picking, and Shiraito Falls; we somehow had Futamigaura Beach completely to ourselves, which made it one of my favorite memories from Japan! 🌊 For your last day, choose Dazaifu, Tenjin, and a comforting pot of motsunabe, or spend the day among Uminonakamichi Seaside Park’s huge flower gardens before visiting Marine World next door. 🌸 If your trip is shorter, use my 2-day Fukuoka itinerary; if you have an extra day, the 4-day itinerary includes both Dazaifu and Uminonakamichi.

Before You Go to Fukuoka
Three days is a comfortable first trip. You can cover Fukuoka Castle and Hakata, spend a full day exploring Itoshima, then choose Dazaifu and Tenjin or Uminonakamichi Seaside Park and Marine World on day three.
Choose Dazaifu for its famous shrine, the Kyushu National Museum, Tenjin shopping, and motsunabe. Choose Uminonakamichi for seasonal flowers, wide-open park space, and Marine World beside the bay.
Only for day two. A rental car or guided Itoshima tour is the easiest way to connect the Couple Stones, Ito Sai Sai, seasonal strawberry picking, Keya, the salt workshop, and Shiraito Falls. Public transportation is possible but much slower and requires more planning.
Book your timed teamLab Forest ticket first. Reserve a guided Itoshima tour once your date is firm, or book Marine World admission if you choose Uminonakamichi on day three.
