A Little About This Trip

Four days in Fukuoka gives you time to explore the city in depth and still escape to the coast without making every meal or attraction feel rushed! ✨ Days one and three cover the big city highlights, from Fukuoka Castle, teamLab Forest, and Fukuoka Tower to Hakata Old Town, Canal City, Tenjin, and Nakasu at night. You can cruise the river, finish around the yatai, and try two of Fukuoka’s best-known foods: mentaiko and motsunabe. Offal hot pot may sound intimidating at first, but give it a chance—the broth is surprisingly light, comforting, and SO flavorful. 🍲

Itoshima is one of my favorite places in Fukuoka, and this route gives its ocean views, quiet shrines, strawberry farms, and waterfalls a full day. We somehow had Futamigaura Beach completely to ourselves, and that peaceful stretch of coast became one of my favorite memories from Japan! 🌊 You will also get a culture-filled morning in Dazaifu before returning to central Fukuoka for the city stops you have not seen yet. Day four pairs the huge seasonal flower gardens and cherry trees of Uminonakamichi Seaside Park with Marine World next door. We spent hours in the park and still did not come close to seeing it all! 🌸🐬

Before You Go to Fukuoka

No. Days one and three explore Fukuoka in depth, day two gives Itoshima its own full coastal road trip, and day four pairs Uminonakamichi Seaside Park with Marine World.

Day four starts among Uminonakamichi Seaside Park’s seasonal flowers, cherry trees, lawns, and Flower Museum before continuing to Marine World for its Kyushu marine life and seaside dolphin show.

Only for day two. A rental car or guided Itoshima tour is the easiest way to connect the Couple Stones, Ito Sai Sai, seasonal strawberry picking, Keya, the salt workshop, and Shiraito Falls. Public transportation is possible but much slower and requires more planning.

Book your timed teamLab Forest ticket and Marine World admission before the trip. If you prefer a guided Itoshima day instead of driving, reserve that tour once your date is firm.
