A Little About This Trip
Two days in Madrid is a quick trip, so this itinerary goes straight for the experiences that make the city feel special! 👑 You’ll spend day one inside the Royal Palace, wander through Plaza Mayor and Mercado de San Miguel, eat churros at San Ginés, and end with flamenco. 💃 The palace is one of the most impressive estates I have ever visited, and the flamenco performance moved me so much that I nearly cried—both are absolutely worth prioritizing.
Day two balances El Retiro and the Crystal Palace with shopping along Gran Vía, casual Madrid food stops, and sunset views from the 360º rooftop. That final view over the red rooftops is such a satisfying way to end the trip! 🌆 If you have another day, my 3-day Madrid itinerary adds the Bernabéu and Prado. Food should be the focus? Gran Vía

- Creative displays make it feel more playful than a typical Primark
- I found several super-cheap swimsuits in one shopping round

Before You Go to Madrid
Yes, if you don't mind two full days. You'll cover the Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor, Mercado de San Miguel, San Ginés, and flamenco on day one, then El Retiro, Gran Vía, and the 360 rooftop on day two. The Prado and a day trip won't fit comfortably, so give yourself three or four days if either is a priority.
Yes, especially on day two. The Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor, and Mercado de San Miguel stay fairly close together on day one, but El Retiro adds plenty of garden paths before you continue along Gran Vía. Wear shoes you can comfortably spend the whole day in, and save the rooftop for a well-earned break.
Book the Royal Palace and your flamenco show first because both use scheduled entry and anchor the two-day route. Add the Bernabéu only if it is one of your personal must-sees; otherwise keep the rest of the itinerary flexible.
