A Little About This Trip
This three-day Barcelona route is for anyone who wants the city’s architecture and art to lead the trip! 🎨 You’ll begin with Gaudí’s Sagrada Família, Casa Batlló, and La Pedrera, then move into the Gothic Quarter for the cathedral, medieval streets, and La Boqueria. The Sagrada Família is unlike any basilica I have ever seen, and the light pouring through its stained glass is even more surreal in person. ⛪
Your final day is flexible: take the mountain route to Montserrat, spend a museum day in El Born with the Palau de la Música and Picasso Museum, or head up Montjuïc for the MNAC and castle. 🏛️ That choice lets you lean toward sacred history, modern art, or panoramic city views without squeezing all three into one exhausting day. Sagrada Familia Basilica

- Gaudí's unfinished basilica looks unlike any other church I've seen

Before You Go to Barcelona
It is, because Barcelona packs so much of it into walking distance. Day one is Gaudí back to back — the Sagrada Família, Casa Batlló and La Pedrera all on one avenue — and day two is Catalan Gothic in the old city, with the cathedral and the covered arcade at Les Galeries Maldà. Day three is where you pick your lane, and every option is an art or history day, so nothing goes to waste.
Want modernisme and painting? Take the El Born day: the Palau de la Música Catalana in the morning, then the Museu Picasso, which is strongest on his early Barcelona work and gives the whole Las Meninas series its own room. Just don’t go on a Monday — the museum’s closed. Pick Montjuïc if you’re here for the Romanesque wall paintings at the MNAC, and you get the castle above the harbor with it; it’s the shortest of the three and wraps up early afternoon. And Montserrat is the one to take if you want the mountain and the abbey more than another gallery.
Book Sagrada Família and Casa Batlló first because both use timed entry. If you choose the El Born art day, add the Palau de la Música Catalana before its preferred tour times fill; choose and book only the final-day option you actually plan to use. 🎨
