A Little About This Trip
Three days in Venice gives you a much nicer rhythm: one day around Rialto and the bacari, one day for Piazza San Marco, and one day across the Grand Canal for the Frari and Accademia. You can hunt for beautiful bridges, stop for cicchetti whenever something looks good and still make it to Rialto for sunset. 🍷 Cà Foscari became my favorite hidden-gem bridge, and Ostaria dai Zemei was my favorite meal in Venice—possibly in all of Italy—so do not let the grand landmarks crowd out the smaller stops. ✨
On day two, go early enough to enjoy Piazza San Marco before it becomes packed, then tour the Doge’s Palace and basilica before a gondola ride. Day three brings more art, hands-on inventions at the Leonardo da Vinci Museum and a final walk over the Accademia Bridge. 🎨 If you only have a weekend, follow my 2 day Venice itinerary. If you have another day, the 4 day Venice itinerary adds Murano, Burano and the Venetian Ghetto.

Before You Go to Venice
Yes, absolutely! Three days in Venice is the perfect amount of time to enjoy Rialto Bridge and the other famous sights, eat delicious Venetian food and cicchetti, and wander through the alleyways at your leisure. If you'd also like to visit Burano and Murano, give yourself an extra day. That day trip is included in my four-day Venice itinerary.
Start around Rialto so you can get a feel for Venice, enjoy some cicchetti and have dinner beside the Grand Canal. Spend your second day exploring St Mark's Square and visiting the palace and basilica. Then use your third day for the Frari church and the art at the Gallerie dell'Accademia, with a walk through San Polo and Dorsoduro along the way.
Reserve St. Mark’s Basilica and buy the Doge’s Palace ticket online first. Those advance plans protect your San Marco day; the Frari and Accademia day can stay more flexible.
Yes, you can visit Venice on a Monday! Just save the Gallerie dell'Accademia for another day, since it's closed then. You can spend Monday exploring Rialto or visiting the sights around St Mark's Square instead. Choose your museum day before booking the palace and basilica so you don't have to move those reservations later.
