A Little About This Trip
Four days in Venice gives you the most complete version of this trip: the famous canals and palaces, quieter art-filled neighborhoods and a full day out in the lagoon. 🎨 The first two days cover Rialto, Piazza San Marco, the Doge’s Palace, St Mark’s Basilica and a gondola ride, with plenty of time for cicchetti and gelato in between. 🚣 Suso served my favorite gelato in all of Italy, and the fresh tiramisu at I Tre Mercanti is such a fun stop when you are nearby. 🍨
Day three takes you across the Grand Canal for the Frari, Leonardo da Vinci Museum, Accademia and Peggy Guggenheim Collection. Then day four reaches Murano and Burano before returning through the Venetian Ghetto, so you see a side of the lagoon that a shorter visit misses. If you need to trim the trip, my 3 day Venice itinerary keeps the city essentials at a comfortable pace, while the 2 day Venice itinerary is the focused first-timer version.

- My FAVORITE gelato stop in all of Italy! 🍨
- The natural pistachio was the best pistachio ice cream I’ve ever

Rialto Bridge
Why this stop?
- The classic elevated view straight down Venice’s Grand Canal
- Sunset here was absolutely JAW-DROPPING! 🌅

Ristorante Caffè Saraceno

- A Grand Canal terrace looking directly toward Rialto Bridge
- The perfectly al dente seafood pasta was among my best ever 🍝

- Walk through the political heart of the Venetian Republic
- Cross inside the Bridge of Sighs before entering the New Prisons

St. Mark's Basilica

- Explore the church, glittering Pala d’Oro, museum, and Horses Loggia
- The loggia overlooks St. Mark’s Square beneath the original bronze quadriga

- Cover your shoulders and knees before you arrive because the basilica is an active religious building.

St. Mark's Campanile

- Venice’s tallest building delivers its major panoramic viewpoint
- A lift makes the 98.6-meter ascent wonderfully easy

- The Campanile needs its own timed ticket—even a basilica ticket doesn't include the tower.
- Stick to the official booking channel. Tickets from unauthorized sellers can be canceled without a refund.

- Watch tiramisù assembled fresh in the front window
- The classic flavor was my favorite—genuinely fun and delicious!

Before You Go to Venice
No—four days gives you time to enjoy Venice and still take a day trip to Murano and Burano. Spend three days on the bridges, alleyways, famous sights, and Venetian food, then use the fourth for the lagoon. It's a great fit if you want the islands without squeezing them into your city days.
Book the Doge’s Palace and St. Mark’s Basilica first, then reserve the Murano and Burano boat tour for your lagoon day. Those three plans have the biggest effect on timing; fit the gondola and smaller museums around them. 🛶
